World IPv6 Day started on 8 June 2011 with five anchoring companies: Facebook, Google, Yahoo, Akamai Technologies, and Limelight Networks, to evaluate the real world effects of the IPv6 brokenness as seen by various synthetic tests.
An additional goal was to motivate organisations across the industry – Internet service providers, hardware makers, operating system vendors and web companies – to prepare their services for IPv6, so as to ensure a successful transition from IPv4 as address space runs out.
Following the success of the original World IPv6 Day, the exercise was repeated on 6 June 2012 as the World IPv6 Launch. The intention is to leave IPv6 permanently enabled on all participating sites.
This year, to commemorate the launch of IPv6, we cordially invite you to join us for a fun chill out and networking session at the IPv6 Launch Anniversary event.
Organised by Progreso Training and IPv6 Forum (Singapore Chapter), we have gathered support from our technology partners; A10 Neworks, Singapore Internet Research Centre and ISOC Sigapore to share with you the latest updates on IPv6 progress.
